The city of São Paulo, Brazil will host, in June 2025, the 16th edition of the International Symposium of Plant Virus Epidemiology – 16th ISPVE-São Paulo 2025. The theme of the symposium will be: “Epidemiology and management of plant viruses and their vectors: a challenge for agriculture in the 21st century”, focusing on ecology, epidemiology, and pathogen-host-vector interactions.

The event in São Paulo (Brazil) will bring together specialists on plant virus epidemiology and other vector-transmitted plant pathogens for four days and will be an excellent opportunity to present and discuss scientific advances in this area. It will also be a chance to promote and stimulate debates and reflections on the global social and economic consequences of plant virus epidemics and the challenges for the 21st century to solve problems in an intelligent, efficient, and sustainable way.

The event will feature oral and poster presentations, involving the topics listed above. The activities will begin, each day, with the presentation of a topic by a prominent researcher in the area, followed by oral presentations, previously selected from all abstracts submitted for this topic. Each day, there will be time allocations for personal discussions to encourage collaboration among the Symposium participants. In addition, on the last day of the event, participants will have the opportunity to visit research institutions and cultivation areas to learn about research and agriculture in Brazil.
